Located in Southern Arizona near Helmet Peak, the house is sited on the slope of a hill with the northwest corner cut into the hillside. The east end of the house is elevated on a plinth. The house has a radial plan which defines an outdoor gathering space on the concave south side and affords views of the Santa Rita and Rincon Mountains.
It is a passive solar design with a large expanse of glazing protected by overhangs on the south side. Steel beams follow the radial layout of the plan, and carry the roof of structural insulated panels. The house has radiant heating in the floor slab, circulating water that is preheated by solar collectors. The roof harvests water for landscaping.
